Tumalo Falls

Tumalo Falls is 14 miles west of Bend, and it is a great location for a family day hike.  The falls are a 90-foot drop and are easily viewed from the trail for a short visit, or you can take one of the many trails for a longer visit. Depending on the time of year you can drive directly to the trailhead, but during the winter there is a parking area 2.5 miles from the trailhead you can cross-country ski or snowshoe from.

An interesting part of this location is that it is next to Bridge Creek, which is the watershed for the City of Bend.  There is an area that has closed entry so the water source is not contaminated.  Also at the site you will learn about the local geography and you will have ample opportunity to see local wildlife on days when there are fewer visitors.
