Timberline Summer Ski

Timberline offers the longest ski season in North America, and perhaps the finest summer program anywhere in the world. After the spring ski season in the Cascades and when other ski areas are closing down, Timberline transitions its operation up the mountain (Mt. Hood) to the Palmer Snowfield, located at the 8,500 foot level. This snowfield has a permafrost base that preserves the snowfall from the previous winter. This condition, combined with machined grooming, gives Timberline the ability to offer excellent lift-accessed ski conditions all summer long. Consequently, Timberline transitions from being a popular day-use ski area in the wintertime to being an international destination in the summer months, attracting the best ski and snowboard athletes in the world.
