Timberline Trail
The Timberline Trail cirumnavigates Mt. Hood at roughly the biological timberline, and stretches for 40.7 miles. It begins and ends at magnificent Timberline Lodge, where hikers can enjoy luxurious rest and refreshment. Out on the trail it offers some of the most scenic hiking in the Northwest, and an opportunity to camp out and enjoy a multiple-day hike. Most people people take three full days of hiking and two nights out on the trail to complete its full 40.7 miles. An option to hike out to a road at Cloud Cap Inn can shorten the hike to two full days if a car is left there, or arrangements are made for someone to meet you there. While on the trail you will encounter waterfalls, glaciers, mountain streams, wildlife, excellent birding, canyons, magnificent vistas and lush alpine meadows.
