Historic Butteville Store

The Butteville Store has served hunters, trappers, travelers, missionaries and farmers for more than 135 years. The Butteville Store is the oldest operating store in the state of Oregon, and was built in 1863. United States presidents have stopped here, and the history of the place is well recorded and documented, with many fun stories told through exhibits in the store. The operators’ motto is “Your country gathering place.” Summer concerts and events are held at the store. It’s a popular place to stop while visiting Champoeg State Park. Ice cream, pies, sandwiches and cold drinks are served, as well as special dinners and brunches.
