Swiftwater Park
Swiftwater Park seems far away from the town of Roseburg, even though it is a mere 22 miles away; it maintains a local culture that is quite different. It is a fisherman’s paradise and is educational in that nature is the predominant player; even though there are houses and people it is still an environment of nature. For anyone who has not lived and experienced a mighty river like the North Umpqua, the whole area is a lesson in why we must preserve places like Swiftwater Park.
In addition to the beauty there is good fishing, swimming in the summer, hiking on the North Umpqua Trail, the Fish Hatchery, the entry of Rock Creek into the North Umpqua, and even the remains of the old Tioga store and post office. In short, it is an area that has much to offer. The Idleyld Store has a surprisingly good supply of just about everything, including made-to-order food to eat there or take back to where you are staying. Glide, only three miles away has three restaurants, a bank and post office.
