Oregon State Capitol

Oregon’s Capitol building is the state’s third Capitol; the first two burned down.  The Capitol is adorned with Greek marble, and atop it sits the “Gold Pioneer” representing Oregon’s pioneering spirit.  The Capitol is surrounded by the lush Willson Park, full of monuments dipicting Oregon’s history and significant people who helped shape the state.

The Capitol is an educational tool that Oregon’s schools use to teach Oregon history and government, from murals depicting the Lewis and Clark expedition to watching the Legislature in action.  The Capitol houses many exhibits throughout the year related to Oregon art, industry and environment.
