My Own Two Hands

Sisters has an amazing ability to support a variety of the arts — painting, music, sculpture, photography, dance, fiber arts (quilting), etc. — then get together to celebrate the works with the whole town.  Sisters is diverse in its arts, yet supportive of all artists.

Attending the “My Own Two Hands” weekend of celebration in Sisters always inclines attendees to look at art in a wider perspective: as an individual expression; a support for education, and a resource for greater comprehension of location.  “My Own Two Hands” includes an artwalk through the town; parades; community art classes based on auction theme; a chili feed at the local saloon; a night of music and dance; and, on the following day, a fantastic auction and party at an operational forge.  All proceeds go to the Americana Project for the arts in local schools.
