Mt. Tabor Park

Mt. Tabor is one of just two extinct volcanoes within a city boundary in the U.S., and provides for a serene getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.  The park contains numerous amenities: basketball court, dog off-leash area, horseshoe pit, paved and unpaved paths, reservable picnic sites and tables, playground, stage, public art, lighted tennis court, volleyball court and a wedding site.  The best part might be the numerous roads, paths and trails for biking and hiking pleasure.

Mt. Tabor is a comforting respite from the city; its evergreen trees and gently sloping curves provide the community a special place to rejuvenate, play and relax. As the focal point of some fairly unique events such as the “Soapbox Derby,” bike races and numerous musical events, it’s also a natural “community center” that truly reflects the Portland ethos of sustainability and mixed-use spaces.
