Little Crater Lake

Little Crater Lake is located in a beautiful alpine meadow full of summertime wildflowers, and is also a good spot for wildlife viewing and birding. It is accessible by a paved walkway. But the best part of Little Crater Lake is the lake, or pond, itself. It is very small but very deep, and it is “gin clear” with an iridescent blue-green color.

  • Seasonal availability (inaccessible in winter)
  • ADA accessible

This lake is a geologic oddity that is characteristic of the Cascade Mountains. It involves an artesian water source that has found the surface through an area of soft volcanic rock. It is a jewel of a pond, mostly appreciated for simply viewing.
