Jo’s Organic Deli

Jo’s, located on the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway in old Downtown Fort Klamath, is an antique auto court built in 1949 by Joanna Taylor.  Jo had run the historic Fort Klamath Hotel for 25 years.  She ran Jo’s for 10 years herself, selling it in 1960 at the age of 75.  The Community Hall, starting point of the historic Fort Klamath Ski Race, was located on this property, and before the motel was built, the campground held buggies and tents for many gatherings.

The motel/store building has been completely restored from the foundation up, using natural building materials, paints, sheet goods and finishes.  All cleaning is done with natural cleaners, and paper products are recycled.  Jo’s Grocery offers a wide variety of organically grown produce, meats (including local grass-fed beef),  snacks and ice cream, dairy, staples and packaged goods. There is also an excellent offering of organically grown wines and beers. Native crafts by local tribal member Ivan Jackson and gifts by other artists are displayed and available for sale.

Two-room motel suites feature gas fireplaces, knotty pine, full kitchens, and carports. Cabins have screened porches. Free movies are included, as well as fresh-ground organic coffee and whipping cream, tea, olive oil, sea salt, pepper and sugar. The RV park (full hookups for small RVs) and campground on the Wood River have fire rings and include showers and firewood.
