Iron Mountain

Culturally, this was a Kalapuya vision quest site, and then a Forest Service lookout until 2003.  As far as natural resources go, this has the most diverse wildflower species anywhere in the area; peak viewing is mid-July. At Iron Mountain Lookout Site there is now a viewing platform.

This site has been painstakingly and lovingly maintained by local agencies, citizens, students, and families and friends from all walks.  Each year, people hand-weed this entire mountain to maintain its wildflower diversity.
