Down the River Cleanup, Clackamas River

The Down the River Cleanup is one of the largest volunteer river cleanups in the Northwest. It brings together the human-powered sports community (rafting, kayaking, fishing, tubing, canoing, sea kayaking, etc.) for a single day of river stewardship. It is a volunteer day on the river that ends with a organic barbeque, and is followed up by a reclaimed river artist-challenge art show a month later in Portland.  Mississippi Studios sets up music, and we have a lineup of great local bands.

The event has won an award from Oregon’s governor for collaborative partnerships, and works with SOLV (Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism). We also have a campout the night before at Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course.  Check out www.welovecleanrivers.org for the cleanup, and www.northwestpaddling.com for the art show pics.

  • Event held annually in September
