Culp Creek
More than 50 years ago, Culp Creek was a bustling logging-company town. Families lived in company houses, shopped at company stores and sent their kids to the company school. The loggers worked for Bohemia. (There was a picture of a local resident driving a Bohemia jitney in a 1947 issue of National Geographic.)
Some of the town’s homes and buildings still survive, though no one lives here now. After your visit to this evocative ghost of a town, drive or bike to the town’s gorgeous grotto/waterfall. Hike the moss-strewn paths. Stop to perch on the huge rocks for nirvana.
