Crack in the Ground

This is an absolutely amazing geological feature. It is a very long, very deep slot canyon in the middle of the Christmas Valley area. Native Americans used it to store items that needed to be kept cold during hot months. The temperature at the bottom is usually more than 15 degrees different than at the surface. White settlers used it to make ice cream! It’s a bit off the beaten path, but it’s worth the drive to walk down into the crack and explore.
