Aspen Lakes Golf Course/Brand 33 Restaurant

The Cyrus family, a sixth-generation Central Oregon family that originally came over the Oregon Trail in the 1840s, built and owns Aspen Lakes Golf Course in Sisters. Aspen Lakes is an 18-hole golf course, featuring unique red-sand bunkers, that has drawn international attention. Combined with classic Central Oregon views of the Cascade Mountains, Aspen Lakes is immediately recognizable and has become a significant draw to the area.

The Aspen Lakes Lodge and Clubhouse is a Western timber-frame design that exemplifies Central Oregon culture.  Named after the Cyrus family livestock brand that was first registered in Crook County in 1883, Brand 33 Restaurant features “contemporary Oregon Trail Cuisine” and embraces the legacy and traditions of the Cyrus family and the area.  The name of the restaurant was chosen as a way to honor not only family heritage, but the pioneer legacy of those who came before.  The restaurant focuses on using local products and items that would have been found on the Oregon Trail.

Visitors from all over the U.S. say this is the most beautiful golf course they have ever played, and many cite the abundant wildlife and views of the Cascade Mountains as the significant reasons they travel to play here (the golf is great, too). Aspen Lakes was the first golf course in Oregon to enroll in the Audubon International  Signature Cooperative Sanctuary Program.  Coming from an agriculture background, the Cyrus family has a strong connection with the land and believes good stewardship is just common sense. Water quality and conservation, energy conservation, wise use of natural resources that are available, recycling, wildlife habitat preservation and enhancement are all elements of that commitment.
