Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge

This 2,796-acre refuge offers excellent wildlife observation areas, trails that meander through wetlands and oak/ash forest, raised boardwalks, interpretive exhibits and obervation/photography blinds. Ankeny is a wildlife refuge, so it is all about the preservation of more than 200 species of wildlife, including geese, herons, eagles, hawks, shore birds, song birds, deer, reptiles and amphibians.
